MEMPHIS, Tenn. — A man is facing charges in a shooting that occurred Saturday night in Binghampton after a party bus fight.
Jarvis Tate, 29, has been charged with aggravated assault. He posted bond and is expected to appear in court Monday.
The Memphis Police Department said they responded to a shooting Nov. 25 around 11 p.m. in the 2500 block of Summer Avenue, where officers found a woman and a man, later identified as Tate, hurt.
The incident happened after a fight. According to court records, Tate and other party goers were on a party bus when the driver stopped to let them use the restroom.
Tate and the driver then began fighting. After the fight, the driver refused to allow the party goers back on the bus. In response, Tate and the woman fired gunshots in the driver's direction, according to court records.
A gray Dodge Charger then pulled up, and the occupants fired shots at Tate and the woman, court records said.
The woman was taken to Regional One Health in critical condition. Police initially said Tate was also taken to Regional One in critical condition due to a laceration, but later said he was not shot.
Both Tate and the woman were positively identified as the ones who shot at the party bus driver.
Police said a warrant was issued for the woman's arrest, but no additional information is available as of now.
