MATA supervisor robbed and assaulted on Madison Ave.

MEMPHIS, Tenn. — A MATA supervisor was assaulted and robbed on Madison Ave. and N Evergreen St. at around 1:30 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 10.

The suspect was asked to get off a MATA bus by the supervisor after exhibiting unruly behavior according to the Memphis Police Department (MPD). The suspect then got off the bus and attacked the MATA employee as he was getting into his car. The victim fought back before being separated from the suspect as bystanders approached him and the suspect. Following the separation, the suspect drove away from the scene down Madison Ave. in the supervisor’s car, a white 2019 Chevrolet Traverse, according to MATA’s safety and security department. The suspect threw the victim’s phone out the car window as she drove off.

The suspect is described as a black woman around 5’10”, weighing around 170 lbs. with blue hair, according to MATA. The stolen vehicle has a tracker but has not been located yet, according to MPD.
