MEMPHIS, Tenn — A Cordova man is facing extradition to Indiana, where he’s facing charges of child exploitation and more.
The Indiana State Police Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force (ICAC) said they began an investigation in January 2024 after getting a tip about someone buying child porn images online.
Investigators said their investigation led them to the account owner, identified as Lance Smith, 23, of Cordova, Tennessee. The Wabash County, Indiana, Prosecutor’s Office issued an arrest warrant for Smith, and Memphis Police arrested him on Nov. 7, 2024.
MPD said officers conducted a search of Smith’s home and seized several electronic devices.
Smith faces charges of:
- Child Exploitation, Level 5 Felony
- Child Exploitation, Level 5 Felony
- Dissemination of Matter Harmful to Minors, Level 6 Felony
- Dissemination of Matter Harmful to Minors, Level 6 Felony
- Dissemination of Matter Harmful to Minors, Level 6 Felony
Smith is currently being held in the Shelby County Jail without bond awaiting extradition.
