Memphis man thankful to be alive after road rage shooting on Sam Cooper Blvd.

"Whoever can just randomly take a human life...I can’t fathom that kind of evil," the victim said.

MEMPHIS, Tenn. — Friday afternoon, ABC24 spoke exclusively with a man who almost died in a road rage shooting on Sunday afternoon.

"Whoever can just randomly take a human life or just have so little meaning to somebody else’s life...I can’t fathom that kind of evil," the victim said.

According to the victim, he was driving home near Sam Cooper Blvd. when he noticed a gray Nissan near him driving erratically, coming close to hitting him.

He said he was continuing east on Sam Cooper to I-40 when that erratic driver veered off to the 240 exchange and opened fire.

The victim said at least three shots were fired from what he believes was an automatic weapon. One of the shots hitting his quarter panel, another hitting his windshield inches away from his head, and the third bullet striking his arm.

He said he called 911 and was taken to the hospital to be treated for a gunshot wound to the forearm. Thankfully, he did not receive any life-threatening injuries.

"It missed me by inches. Yeah. I never thought it would happen to me," the victim said.
