MEMPHIS, Tenn. — UPDATE 3/19/2021 - (SHELBY COUNTY DISTRICT ATTORNEY NEWS RELEASE) - A Memphis teen was indicted Thursday in the roadway shooting death of a man last summer at a southwest Memphis intersection, said Shelby County Dist. Atty. Gen. Amy Weirich.
Anthony Green, 19, was indicted on first-degree murder, two counts of attempted first-degree murder, and two counts of employment of a firearm in the commission of a dangerous felony.
Witnesses said that on the afternoon of June 19 last year two vehicles were stopped at Shelby Drive and Neely Road when a third vehicle pulled up and the driver began shooting.
A passenger in one vehicle, Octavious Atkins, 27, was struck multiple times and was pronounced dead at the scene. A 49-year-old man who was the driver of the third vehicle was struck in the arm by a gunshot and was taken to a hospital.
The shooter’s vehicle, a white Mercedes SUV, was found burning behind a nearby building, but the driver was not located.
Green was developed as a suspect, and was arrested on a murder warrant on Sept. 26 when a Mississippi Highway Patrolman pulled over a vehicle he was traveling in on Interstate 10 near Gulfport.
The case is being handled by Chief Prosecutor Stephanie Johnson of the District Attorney’s Vertical Team 2 which handles cases in General Sessions Division 9 and Criminal Court Division 2.

6/19/2020 - Memphis Police are investigating a deadly triple shooting Friday afternoon.
It happened in the area of Shelby Drive and Neely. Police say one person was found dead, and two others are in critical condition. Investigators have not said what led to the shooting.
Police say the suspects took off in a white SUV. No other description has been released.
