Memphis Police release video of suspect in Northeast Memphis shooting, Waffle House robbery

MEMPHIS, Tenn. — Memphis Police have released video of a suspect who they said robbed a person inside a Waffle House and shot a man in Northeast Memphis.

MPD officers responded to the Waffle House robbery about 11:30 a.m. at the restaurant in the 1500 block of Sycamore View Dr. They said the same suspect from the shooting went inside the closed business and took the victim's wallet. They said he fired a shot into the floor then took off towards the neighboring McDonald's before getting into the back seat of an older model four-door silver sedan and leaving the area.   

MPD officers responded to the shooting just before noon Thursday, May 16, 2024, in the 2100 block of Deer Ridge Dr. at the Deerfield Apartments, not far from Raleigh Lagrange and Sycamore View.

Investigators said they found one man shot and he was taken to Regional One Hospital in critical condition. Police said the victim told them he gave the suspect a ride to the apartments, and when they got there, the suspect pointed a gun an demanded his car, then shot the victim in the leg.

Carjacking 2135 Deer Ridge Dr. Report #2405026695ME MEMPHIS, TN – On May 16, 2024, at 11:58 a.m., officers responded to a carjacking at the Deerfield Apartments located at 2135 Deer Ridge Drive. Officers were advised by the victim that he gave an unknown male a ride to the apartments and after he stopped, the male pointed a gun and demanded the victim’s 2014 Nissan Versa. The unknown male shot the victim in his lower right leg. The suspect is responsible for also robbing individuals inside of the Waffle House. The suspect is a Black male, 25-30 years of age, 5’7”, thin build, wearing all black clothing, and blue bandana. No arrest has been made. This is an ongoing investigation. See attached video.
