Memphis Police searching for answers after man told them he was shot while driving in North Memphis

MPD said the victim told them he was unsure of the exact location, only that it was in North Memphis.

MEMPHIS, Tenn. — Memphis Police are trying to determine what led to a shooting, possibly in North Memphis.

MPD officers responded to a call about a man shot just after 11 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 18, 2024, in the 1000 block of Water Lily Trail in the Woodglen Apartments. When they got there, they said the victim told them he was driving in the area of Breedlone St. and Firestone Ave. when he was hit by a bullet. The victim told police he got out of his car and flagged down another driver, who took him to Water Lily Trail.

Investigators said the victim had “what appeared to be a bullet wound to the back.” He was taken to Regional One Hospital in critical, and is now non-critical.

Investigators said they were unable to find a crime scene in the Breedlove and Firestone area, or the Water Lily Trail area. They said the victim told them he was unsure of the exact location, only that it was in North Memphis.
