MEMPHIS, Tenn. — A mom is facing a charge after images on social media showing a child apparently performing a wax on a nude woman went viral, leading to the Memphis Police Department commencing an investigation.
Jasmine Moss, 30, has been charged with child abuse and neglect. She is out of jail after being released on her own recognizance. The case was sent to the Shelby County Grand Jury on May 15.
According to an affidavit, police received complaints regarding the images Wednesday, Feb. 15, 2024. The pictures had been uploaded to a social media account controlled by Moss. The account appears to be used by Moss to advertise her hair removal business, the affidavit said.
In a post, Moss identified the child as her daughter and wrote that the girl had participated in waxing 24 clients over an eight-hour time span, the affidavit revealed, adding that previous police reports involving the mom and daughter indicated the child is about 5 years old.
MPD said a join investigation went underway with the Tennessee Department of Children Services.
Investigators said anyone who sees these photos should not screen save then or forward them to anyone, including law enforcement. No one should download or upload the images in any way.
MPD asked that further complaints about the posts be referred to the Center for Missing or Exploited Children at 1-800-843-5678 or make a CyberTip Report HERE. MPD said the Center is assisting the department to determine case jurisdiction.
