MEMPHIS, Tenn. — Memphis Police said two people have been detained after officers spotted a stolen vehicle, leading to a chase.

MPD said officers were conducting a “directive patrol” about 12:45 p.m. in the 2900 block of Lamar Ave. near Southwall St. Investigators said the officers spotted a vehicle that had been reported stolen with no one in it sitting in the parking lot.

Investigators said four suspects came out of a store and walked to the car, but then two of them ran back into the store. MPD said the two others jumped into the stolen car and took off, hitting another car while trying to leave the parking lot.

MPD said the driver refused to stop, and officers began chasing the car to the area of I-240 and S. Parkway, where they were checking the area for the car and suspects.

MPD said two people were detained and no one was injured.
