MEMPHIS, Tenn. — A woman is facing federal assault charges after firing a handgun at the United States Secret Service field office in Memphis, according to authorities.

According to the Western District of Tennessee’s U.S. Attorney's Office, a previously sealed complaint said 41-year-old Raven Jones was approaching the entrance door of the field office on Oct. 19 while using her cell phone for a Facebook livestream during normal business hours. Agents, task force officers, administrative staff, and visitors were in the office.

Jones then took out a handgun and fired a single shot into the wall next to the doorway, according to the report. She then placed the gun on the floor, raising her hands above her head, before federal officers took her into custody.

The U.S. Secret Service and the Federal Bureau of Investigation conducted the investigation.

If Jones is convicted, she will face a mandatory minimum of 10 years in federal prison for the firearms charge and a maximum statutory penalty of life imprisonment along with a $250,000 fine, the attorney office said.
