MEMPHIS, Tenn. — Three people are on the run after a robbery at a store in Walker Homes left a mother and son injured Tuesday night.
Memphis Police responded to a robbery call Nov. 26 just before 9:30 p.m. at a store in the 300 block of Mitchell Road. A 39-year-old woman told officers she had been waiting for her sister and 19-year-old nephew, who were inside the store, when a suspect started shooting, causing people to runaway in all directions, according to a police report.
The woman drove away with her family to stop at a gas station on Lamar Avenue to call police.
The 19-year-old nephew told investigators that someone he only knew as "Shiesty" shot him in the leg and his mother due to a possible robbery.
The mother was taken to a hospital in critical condition. The son was also taken to the hospital, but he is expected to be okay.
Police watched video footage at the scene, determining the victims were robbed before getting inside the store and told to lay down on the ground, according to the police report. Police said three suspects escaped the scene, heading west.
