MEMPHIS, Tenn. — Memphis Police responded to an abduction call Tuesday morning at the Greyhound Bus Station, but Greyhound officials later confirmed there was no kidnapping.

The Memphis Police Department said the kidnapping call came in around 5:45 a.m. at 3033 Airways Boulevard. Investigators later confirmed that the victim had been found.

However, Greyhound officials later clarified that Memphis Police were only called as a precaution and that no kidnapping took place.

Officials said a passenger that had exited the bus was approached by a person who offered the passenger a ride in their vehicle. The passenger rejected the offer and reported the incident to the station's security guard, and out of an abundance of caution, Memphis Police were also notified, according to officials.

"The safety and comfort of all of our passengers and employees is and will continue to be our top priority," a statement from the company said.
