MEMPHIS, Tenn. — A man is facing a murder charge after a deadly shooting happened in late November 2023 near East Memphis.
Deangelo D. Valentine has been charged with first-degree murder. U.S. Marshals said Valentine was located Feb. 16, 2024, at an address on Hillbrook Rd. in South Memphis. They said Valentine tried to run out the back of the house, then ran back inside, and that's when law enforcement forced entry. They said after several warnings, Valentine surrendered and was taken to the Shelby County Jail.
MPD said officers responded to the shooting call just after 10:30 a.m. Friday, Nov. 24, 2023, in the 3900 block of Willow Cove, not far from Getwell and New Willow Rd. They found a man shot and he was taken to St. Francis Hospital, where he later died from his injuries.
According to an affidavit, investigators were notified on Feb. 3 about a witness, who came to police saying they saw the shooting happen. The witness said the victim was talking with two guys who went by the names "D-Lo" and "Stendo." After a short conversation, the victim went into an apartment and "Stendo" handed "D-Lo" a firearm, the witness told police. The victim returned shortly afterward and "D-Lo" shot him. The two guys then walked away from the scene.
Investigators identified "D-Lo" as Valentine, who was positively identified.
