Murder fugitive arrested in South Memphis

MEMPHIS, Tenn. — U.S. Marshals and Memphis Police arrested a fugitive accused of shooting and killing a person in South Memphis in early September.

The person had been killed at a residence in the 1400 block of Kansas Street, leading to authorities issuing an arrest warrant for 27-year-old Emmanuel Sampson about a week later for first-degree murder.

Police found Sampson Friday, Sept. 27, at a residence in the 1700 block of Kansas Street. The suspect refused to leave the residence when asked and MPD requested help from from U.S. Marshals.

Eventually, they forced the front door open and took Sampson into custody without further incident.

Authorities also found 33-year-old Latonya Livingston inside and charged with accessory after the fact. Both were taken to the Shelby County Jail.
