MEMPHIS, Tenn. — A Memphis Police Department (MPD) officer was injured after being hit by a car while attempting a traffic stop.
At around 1:45 p.m., MPD officers said they attempted a traffic stop on a maroon Corvette driving east on Holmes with a flat tire and no license plate tag. The car came to a stop near Elvis Presley when a Dodge Challenger pulled up next to it.
A man and woman got out of the Corvette, and an officer attempted to detain the man when the Dodge Challenger hit the officer and his vehicle.
The Dodge drove away, and officers pursued it until they lost sight of it at Getwell near Shelby Drive, according to MPD.
The officer was taken to Regional One in non-critical condition, MPD said.
