MEMPHIS, Tenn. — One person has been charged in Lafayette County, Mississippi, after a woman was found dead when deputies responded to a domestic disturbance on Thanksgiving Day.
The Lafayette County Sheriff’s Office said they received a 911 call just after 8:30 p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 23, 2023, about a possible domestic disturbance at a home on County Road 181. When they got there, they said Kylan Phillips, 24, was inside the home refusing to come out.
Once they were able to talk Phillips out of the home, deputies said they found a woman, identified as 21-year-old Bailey Mae Reed, dead at the scene. Investigators said she had died from injuries from an assault.
On Nov. 27, 2023, Phillips was charged with murder and bond was set at $2,000,000. He is currently being held at the Lafayette County Detention Center.
In a post to Facebook, Sheriff Joey East said, "Our hearts go out to the family and friends of Bailey during this difficult time. The Lafayette County Sheriff's Office is dedicated to seeking justice for Bailey and her loved ones.”
