Second man charged in connection with deadly shooting outside nightclub

A second man has been charged in connection with a deadly shooting outside a local nightclub.

MEMPHIS, Tenn. (localmemphis.com) – UPDATE 12/13/2019 – A second man has been charged in connection with a deadly shooting outside a local nightclub.

Frank Walls is charged with reckless endangerment and unlawful possession of a weapon.

According to the affidavit, police say Walls was firing shots during an argument in the parking lot of of the James Lounge on Summer Avenue early Wednesday morning. Police said Walls did not have a permit for the gun.

UPDATE 12/12/2019 – Memphis Police have arrested and charged Cededrick Ivory in the shooting Wednesday that killed one man and injured at least one other outside a nightclub.

According to the affidavit, investigators say Anthony Travis and others were trying to defuse a fight between several people when Ivory fired into the crowd. Travis was killed. According to the affidavit, one other man was also shot and taken to Regional One in critical condition. (Previously, MPD reported two others injured.)

Police say Ivory was identified as the shooter. He is charged with first degree murder, attempted murder, and employment of a firearm during commission of a dangerous felony.

Bond has not been set and Ivory is due in court Friday. A mugshot is not yet available.

12/11/2019 – Summer Avenue was partially closed for several hours Wednesday morning as Memphis Police investigated a deadly shooting outside a nightclub.

It happened just before 12:30 a.m. in the parking lot of JamesLounge in the 3100 block of Summer Avenue. Police say a fightbroke out inside the club. They say those involved went outside, whenshooting began.

Officers found one man dead outside the club,and two more men were found shot nearby. The two injured men were taken toRegional One in critical condition.

Witnesses tell Local 24 News there wassupposed to be a show at the lounge, but it never started because of theshooting.

Theman who was killed is described as a young man in his twenties. His namehas not been released.

The investigation took several hours and the portion of Summer Avenue between Baltic Street and Hudson Street was closed until they finished, around 8:45 a.m.

Investigatorshave not said if anyone is in custody.

Police are also investigating a crash near the scene at Summer Avenue and Vandalia, where a woman was taken to Baptist East in critical condition. Investigators are not sure if the crash is related to the shooting.
