MEMPHIS, Tenn. — Five people, including two children, are recovering after Memphis Police Department investigators said they were shot outside an apartment complex Monday afternoon in southeast Memphis.

According to MPD, officers responded to a call about a shootout at the Robin Hood Park Apartments in the 3700 block of Robin Park Circle around 5 p.m. Oct. 28, 2024.

Officers said they found one man on he ground shot in both his legs and another man on a porch, shot in one leg. Both were taken to local hospitals in non-critical condition.

Investigators said a third man came up to officers and told them he ran as shots rang out, then realized he had been grazed along his shoulder. He was treated at the scene.

Police said a boy sitting on a porch nearby was hit in the cheek by the gunfire. Investigators said his mother drove him to the hospital.

While investigating, police said they got word about a fifth victim - a boy who had arrived at the hospital shot in the leg. Investigators said that boy's mother also drove him to the hospital, where he was in non-critical condition. The mother's vehicle, which was missing a front bumper, was towed by MPD as part of the investigation.

Two of the victims told police they were standing outside when a male suspect started shooting at them with a tan handgun. They said the suspect took off in a gray car that was missing a front bumper.

Investigators said several of the buildings at the complex were hit by bullets, along with some vehicles outside.
