MEMPHIS, Tenn. — A Shelby County Grand Jury has indicted a man for second-degree murder after a shooting in Orange Mound left a person dead in early September 2023.
Brandon Bailey, 42, Bailey was indicted on charges of second-degree murder and convicted felon in possession of a handgun. According to jail records, he remains in the Shelby County Jail on $100,000 total bond.
The Memphis Police Department (MPD) responded to the shooting Sept. 5 around 1 a.m. in the 700 block of Bey Street, where they found a man seriously injured. He was taken to Regional One Health in critical condition and later died due to his injuries.
During an investigation, Bailey was named a suspect after several CrimeStoppers tips were submitted to police, according to court records.
Bailey was later identified as the man who had been arguing with the man killed prior to the shooting, court records said.
