Memphis Police said they responded to the shooting scene at Main Event, a family entertainment center, on 7219 Appling Farms Pkwy. on Monday, July 22, 2024, around 7:15 p.m. According to the police affidavit, investigators found a security guard, identified as Redmon, on the ground inside, shot in the head. He died at the scene.

During the Aug. 8 hearing, prosecutors showed video in court of the shooting, which showed the two guards in conversation before Lewis pulled a gun and shot Redmond in the head at nearly point blank range.

The affidavit said the manager called police after hearing two "bangs" and finding Redmon on the ground bleeding. The manager told police he asked the other guard, Lewis, what happened, and Lewis replied, "He came at me, and I had to do it."

According to the affidavit, another Main Event employee told investigators Lewis was upset Redmon was there and told the other worker that if Redmon "walks up on me, I'm gonna blow his a** off."

The worker told police that Redmon and Lewis argued about the metal detector at the entrance, then about 10 minutes later, he said Lewis told Redmon not to walk up on him. That's when the worker said he saw Lewis shoot Redmon twice in the head.

The affidavit said Redmon had a gun in his holster when he was shot.

"We are aware of the incident that occurred at our Memphis, TN...Main Event location on Monday," said a statement from Main Event Entertainment. "We immediately contacted the Memphis Police Department and have been cooperating with their investigation. Our primary concern is for the safety and well-being of our guests and employees. Any additional inquiries regarding this matter should be directed to MPD."
