MEMPHIS, Tenn. — After The Shelby County Sheriff’s Office (SCSO) said two convicted felons were arrested again in June and charged in a series of crimes, a majority of charges have now been dismissed, according to court records.

The SCSO said a man in Cordova reported his truck stolen on June 2, 2024, with a handgun that was inside. Detectives with the Burglary, Robbery, & Auto Thefts (BRATS) unit found the stolen car at a home in Binghampton and identified Justin Jones as a suspect.

Investigators said they served a search warrant on the home and found a loaded gun, fentanyl, and two dozen credit cards linking Jones to auto burglaries in Memphis and at Shelby Farms.

The SCSO said a woman inside the home and also arrested and charged in the case.

Jones was originally charged with 30 counts fraudulent use of a credit card and four counts of identity theft, all of which were dismissed on July 2, according to court records.

Several other charges were sent to the grand jury in late September. He remains charged with theft of property, convicted felon in possession of a handgun, possession of drugs and paraphernalia, and resisting arrest. A charge of theft was also sent to the grand jury on July 2. Jones was indicted on a previous aggravated assault charge on Sept. 6. He is in the Shelby County Jail on a total of $178,000 bond.

The woman originally faced those same number of fraudulent use of a credit card and identity theft charges, possession of drugs and paraphernalia, and convicted felon in possession of a handgun. Court records show all of those charges were dismissed on July 2.
