MEMPHIS, Tenn. — Editor's note: The original version of this story said Marshall escaped from the Shelby County Jail. This has been corrected.
A man is back in custody and facing a charge after he escaped the Shelby County Corrections Center on Wednesday, authorities said.
The Shelby County Sheriff's Office (SCSO) issued the BOLO for the inmate June 12, 2024. Officials said around 9:30 a.m., Shelby County deputies responded to an escapee call at the 6400 block of Mullins Station Rd.
Shelby County Corrections Center personnel noticed that inmate James Patrick Marshall, 48, was missing from a work detail. Marshall was last wearing a gray or white shirt and blue SCDC jeans, according to the SCSO.
Just before 9 a.m. the following day, deputies with the Fugitive Apprehension Team (FAT) found Marshall at a hotel in the area of Sycamore View and Macon Cove with a woman, 41-year-old Shalina Dunford.
He was later charged with escape. Dunford has also been charged with accessory after the fact.
