MEMPHIS, Tenn. — A man was rushed to the hospital after a shooting happened Tuesday night in the downtown Memphis area.
The Memphis Police Department responded to the shooting Jan. 23 shortly after 11 p.m. in the 500 block of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr Avenue.
An officer had been flagged down by a woman, who led the officer to a black car that had crashed. Inside, a man sat in the driver seat with a bullet wound in his neck.
He was taken to Regional One Health in critical condition. The woman also was taken to the hospital in non-critical condition because she was bleeding from the head, a wound received from the crash.
The woman told officers that she and the man, her boyfriend, were driving east on Dr. Martin Luther King Jr Avenue when someone began shooting at them, making them crash.
Investigators later said that the woman had a stolen gun in her possession and she was charged accordingly.
As of this time, police have not been able to obtain a description of any suspects.
