MEMPHIS, Tenn. — A suspect is in custody and another one is on the run Memphis Police said after a car chase led to an officer firing at one of the two suspects Monday morning on I-240.
The Memphis Police Department said it began when officers responded to a prowler-in-progress call Nov. 27, 2023, around 3:30 a.m. in the 1800 block of Eldorado St. Investigators said the responding officers saw a car leaving the scene and a rear passenger pointed a weapon at them, according to police.

Police said two men in all-black clothing ran from the car and police chased after them. Investigators said one of the suspects turned and pointed a gun at an officer. They said the officer gave verbal commands and fired at the suspect, who continued to run away.
One suspect was taken into custody in the 1800 block of Robinhood Lane, according to police. The other suspect is still on the run. MPD said no injuries have been reported as of yet.
Officers recovered a weapon and said the suspects’ car had been stolen.
As of now, no charges have been filed and the investigation is ongoing. Police closed all westbound lanes of I-240 at Getwell Road during the investigation for several hours. At least two lanes had reopened as of 10:15 a.m.
