MEMPHIS, Tenn. — Memphis Police said a man who made threats referencing a mass shooting over social media on Saturday was investigated and then arrested for other unrelated warrants.
Specifically, these charges relate to domestic violence, according to a Shelby County affidavit.
Early Saturday, a post was made referencing the tragic shooting spree that Ezekiel Kelly was indicted for and that took place on Sept. 7, 2022.
In this post, a user identifying himself as "Huncho Cinco" said that he was "about ready to pull a Zeek" before writing what seemed to be brief goodbye messages to family and friends.
After a thorough investigation, officers were able to identify the subject responsible who also showed to have outstanding warrants, according to the Memphis Police Department (MPD).
Investigators were able to take this subject into custody in the 3100 block of Madewell, according to MPD.
On June 17, a woman reported an aggravated assault that took place in this area to Memphis Police, according to a Shelby County affidavit.
This woman told police her boyfriend, Derrick White, woke her up yelling at her. White then picked up a shoe and hit her with the shoe, according to the affidavit. He also caused lacerations to the woman's right brow by hitting her with a handgun, according to the affidavit.
This woman positively identified White as the person responsible for this offense to police, and MPD confirmed to ABC24 that White was the man responsible for the social media threats made by the "Huncho Cinco" account.
There is also a history of domestic violence between White and the woman who spoke to police, according to the affidavit.
