MEMPHIS, Tenn. — CrimeStoppers of Memphis and Shelby County announced Thursday an extra $10,000 reward is being offered for information that leads to an arrest and conviction in the murder of a man working on a rental home.

Officials said Michael 'Ross' Collier was an employee of Urban Property Management and working on the rental house in the 1600 block of Patton Rd. near E. Essex Ave. in South Memphis on Monday, Jan. 29, 2024, when he was killed.

Memphis Police said MPD officers responded to a call about the shooting just before 11 a.m. They said the victim, whom CrimeStoppers identified as Collier, died at the scene.

Investigators said preliminary information shows a carjacking may have led to the shooting.

CrimeStoppers officials said it appeared Collier noticed someone at his truck, and was shot moments later. His white 2004 F150 Ford truck was driven away. The truck has an extended cab and a broken right wheel brake light and a dented fender.

CrimeStoppers said residents in the area heard gunfire, but no one has come forward with information on suspects.

Anyone with information is asked to call CrimeStoppers at 901-528-CASH.

“Someone knows the person or persons responsible for this crime,” said David Wayne Brown, executive director of CrimeStoppers of Memphis and Shelby County. “We urge anyone who knows anything to call us at 528-CASH (2274) right away.”
