MEMPHIS, Tenn. — A Southaven woman has been indicted in her daughter’s death, according to DeSoto County District Attorney Matthew Barton.

Barton said a DeSoto County Grand Jury indicted Jessica Tabor on a charge of capital murder. Barton said the indictment alleges that Tabor did “willfully and feloniously kill and murder her daughter.”

Tabor was arrested March 22, 2024. What happened is unclear. Southaven Police told ABC24 at the time that they responded to a call about an unresponsive person. When they got there, investigators said they found the “unresponsive individual” was dead. They said they identified a suspect and that the two were known to each other.

Tabor remains in the DeSoto County Jail without bond.

“I’d like to thank the Grand Jury for their diligent consideration of these cases, which are sometimes very tough and emotional,” D.A. Barton stated. “I would also like to recognize the Southaven Police Department for their elite investigative efforts that led to this indictment.”
