Shooting in southeast Shelby County leaves 1 dead

Deputies were called to the 6700 block of Quail Crest Lane around noon Thursday. One person died on the scene.

SHELBY COUNTY, Tenn. — Shelby County deputies are investigating a deadly shooting in southeast Shelby County.

According to the Shelby County Sheriff's Office, deputies were called to the 6700 block of Quail Crest Lane around noon Thursday. Malik Smith, 25, died on the scene.

Anyone with information about the homicide is asked to call CrimeStoppers at 901-528-CASH.

If anyone has footage of the shooting, it can be uploaded anonymously here through the SHARE program.
