MEMPHIS, Tenn. — A suspect is on the run after a Memphis Police squad car was stolen and later found wrecked Friday morning in North Memphis, police said.
The Memphis Police Department said officers were responding to a prowler call April 26, 2024, around 3:45 a.m. in the 1000 block of Faxon Avenue. There, someone managed to steal an officer's squad car while they were investigating.
Over an hour later, officers found the stolen MPD car crashed at North Mud Island Road and North 2nd Street. An ABC24 crew member saw the car had significant damage at the rear.
Memphis Police confirmed that officers are still looking for the suspect. Officers on the scene said the suspect may be armed and dangerous.
