TBI: Three inmates at West Tennessee State Penitentiary charged after attack on inmate during fight

The three are accused of attempted murder after a fight with other prisoners, according to the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation (TBI).

MEMPHIS, Tenn. — Three inmates at the West Tennessee State Penitentiary in Henning have been indicted on charges, accused of attempted murder after a fight with other prisoners, according to the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation (TBI).

Eric Rudd was indicted on charges of attempted first-degree murder, aggravated assault, and possession of contraband (weapon) in a penal facility. His bond was set at $500,000.

Anthony Clay and Zakkawanda Moss are charged with attempted first-degree murder and aggravated assault. Clay’s bond was set at $500,000 and Moss’ bond was set at $1 million.

According to the TBI, the fight happened between inmates at the West Tennessee State Penitentiary in Henning on Han. 11, 2024. Investigators said one inmate was critically injured during the fight. TBI special agents said Rudd, Clay, and Moss were found to be responsible for the inmates’ injuries.
