TENNESSEE, USA — Tennessee sheriffs released a statement Friday, Sept. 13, urging parents to monitor their children's accounts after they said there has been an increased volume of school threats made online in the state.
Sullivan County Sheriff Jeff Cassidy, president of the Tennessee Sheriff's Association Inc., said they will not tolerate anyone making threats and perpetrators will be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law.
"We urge parents to monitor what their child is posting on social media platforms and to talk to them about the seriousness of making or even sharing threatening posts," Cassidy said. "As always, we continue to urge the community to report anything suspicious or potentially threatening in nature toward schools or any public building."
