Thieves ram car into AT&T store on Summer Avenue, take about $5,000 worth of items

Police responded to the burglary Monday, Dec. 18, just after 5 a.m. in the 4800 block of Summer Avenue next to North Mendenhall Road.

MEMPHIS, Tenn. — Thieves broke into an AT&T store Monday morning on Summer Avenue. 

The Memphis Police Department responded to the burglary Dec. 18 just after 5 a.m. in the 4800 block of Summer Avenue next to North Mendenhall Road at the cell phone store.

A witness told officers that three cars — a white, black, and gray Nissan Maxima — were in the store’s parking lot. The witness saw the thieves drive the white car into the front of the store to access the building, saying there were possibly six suspects. 

Officers saw several boxes of cellphone accessories scattered around and a gated safe area that had been accessed at the back of the store. Police said they learned about $5,000 worth of cellphone accessories had been stolen.

After conducting a search, officers found more boxes of cellphone accessories and empty cellphone boxes in the intersection areas of McCrory Avenue and Dora Street and Macon Road and North Mendenhall Road. 

According to court records, 18-year-old Tedric Parson admitted to driving a stolen vehicle to the AT&T store and being involved in the burglary. Police arrested him Wednesday, Dec. 20.
