MEMPHIS, Tenn. (localmemphis.com) – Three people – an adult man and two juvenile boys – are charged after a crash in which investigators say they tried to run away, force themselves into other people’s cars, then tried to break into a church.
It happened about 9:00 p.m. Tuesday at Houston Levee nearHouston Hill. A witness told Shelby County deputies that a white F-150 ran intoa culvert. They said several men ran from the truck and tried to get into vehiclesstopped at the intersection.
When deputies arrived, they spotted the suspects runningtowards Life Church, and deputies say they were able to catch up with the menas they tried to break inside.
Deputies say the truck the suspects crashed had beenreported stolen in Collierville Monday.
All three, the man and the two boys are charged with theft of property and attempted burglary. Investigators say 18-year-old Deshun Bates had an outstanding warrant for aggravated assault.
The names of the two juveniles have not been released. Investigators say one is 15-years-old.
