LAFAYETTE COUNTY, Miss — Three people have been arrested after shots were fired at a deputy in Lafayette County during a traffic stop attempt early Friday morning, according to officials.
The Lafayette County Sheriff's Office (LCSO) said they responded to an alarm call at The Range at TGC Outdoors on Highway 7, where a deputy saw a vehicle leaving the business and attempted to stop it.
While trying to perform the traffic stop, the people inside the vehicle fired at the deputy and then drove away north on Highway 7, escaping into Marshall County. The deputy gave chase, but failed to capture the suspects.
LCSO said the deputy did not get injured in the shooting.
After a search, the suspects — identified as Shoundarius Bogard, Mykial Penilton and Montrell Ramsey — were found and taken into custody. Multiple firearms that are believed to be connected to the incident were also located.
LCSO said the investigation into the incident is ongoing, and anyone with information should contact the Lafayette County Sheriff's Office at 662-234-6421.
