MEMPHIS, Tenn. — A 15-year-old is facing charges and four other kids were issued juvenile summons after a stabbing at Treadwell Middle left a boy injured Monday, according to the Memphis Police Department (MPD).
While responding to an ambulance call for an unrelated incident around 3:30 p.m. on Dec. 9, an officer noticed a school resource officer and school principal breaking up a fight at 920 Highland. Police then took five kids into custody.
The injured boy told investigators the fight began because of a basketball game on Friday, Dec. 6, saying the suspects were upset after losing the game, according to the police report. The boy then said the suspects posted on Facebook that they were going to have WWE WrestleMania Jump festival.
The boy said the suspects came to the school Monday to "jump" him, where one of the suspects punched, pushed, kicked and stabbed him with a knife.
Memphis Police officials said the boy was taken to Le Bonheur Children's Hospital in non-critical condition.
A witness told police he saw the stabbing and started fighting the suspects to help the boy. Another witness said she got into a fight with one of the suspects' sister over the attack.
Police listed the charges as follows:
A 15-year-old male was charged with aggravated assault and criminal trespass. He had also been taken to Le Bonheur for non-critical injuries.
A 16-year-old female was issued a juvenile summons for simple assault and criminal trespass.
A 12-year-old male was issued a juvenile summons for simple assault and criminal trespass.
A 14-year-old female was issued a juvenile summons for simple assault.
A 13-year-old male was issued a juvenile summons for simple assault.
