Man charged with murder, receives $425K bond after deadly shooting took place in Robinsonville home

TUNICA COUNTY, Miss — A man is facing charges after a mother was killed in a shooting in Mississippi on Friday and his bond has been set at $425,000, according to the Tunica County Sheriff's Office.

Donald Demario Patrick, 37, has been charged with first-degree murder, aggravated domestic violence, felon in possession of firearm (2 counts), and possession of a stolen weapon, the sheriff's office announced Monday. 

Officers said they responded Jan. 5 toward 10 p.m. after a 911 call from a person who said that a child came to their residence saying that their mother had been shot.

Additional shots were heard when police arrived at the scene on Kirby Road in Robinsonville, Mississippi. Two more children were outside of the residence, according to the sheriff's office. 

Sherriff deputies said they gathered information on the scene that the apartment was occupied by one woman, her newborn child, and one man. They secured the scene and evacuated the surrounding residences, according to the Tunica County Sheriff's Office.

Over the phone, sheriff deputies spoke to the man who was the suspect, Patrick, and were able to get him to release the weapon as well as come outside of the residence, according to the Tunica County Sheriff's Office. By 11 p.m., the man was detained, according to the sheriff's office.

Patrick had told police that he shot his child's mother, and he was held at the Tunica County Detention Center pending the charges, according to the Tunica County Sheriff's Office. 

A woman was found on the scene who had been shot and was dead on the scene, police said. The baby was found unharmed, according to the sheriff's office.
