17-year-old, 14-year-old injured after shooting in downtown Memphis

Investigators said video footage showed two suspects on scooters firing shots at the boys before escaping south on Ratliff Lane.

MEMPHIS, Tenn. — Two boys are injured after a shooting happened Wednesday night in downtown Memphis.

The Memphis Police Department said they responded to a shooting call May 15, 2024, around 7:45 p.m. in the 500 block of Vance Ave.

A 17-year-old boy and 14-year-old boy were taken to Le Bonheur Children's Hospital, one in critical condition and the other non-critical condition, police said. The boy critically injured later had his condition upgraded to non-critical as well. 

Investigators said video footage showed two suspects on scooters firing shots at the boys before escaping south on Ratliff Lane. Eighteen shell casings were found in the area of the shooting.
