BOLO issued for suspect in deadly domestic violence double shooting in Southeast Shelby County

The Shelby County Sheriff's Office said they found a woman dead on the scene, and rushed a man to the hospital, where he later died.

SHELBY COUNTY, Tenn. — The Shelby County Sheriff's Office (SCSO) has issued a BOLO (Be On The Lookout) for a man wanted in the death of a couple Monday in southeast Shelby County.

The SCSO said 28-year-old Jaylan McCollins is considered armed and dangerous.

The sheriff's office said deputies responded to the scene at the 7600 block of Newfound Gap Rd. around 5:15 a.m. Monday, July 1, 2024. When they arrived, they found a woman who had been shot and killed, and a man who had been shot. He was rushed to the hospital in critical condition, where he later died.

Several witnesses on the scene told ABC24 the shooting was a domestic violence incident, with one witness saying they heard shouting before gunshots rang out.

The SCSO said anyone who spots Jaylan McCollins should not approach. Instead, call CrimeStoppers at 901-528-CASH or the SCSO at 901-222-5600.
