MEMPHIS, Tenn. — Two women from Memphis are facing charges after running a health care scheme, Tennessee authorities announced Tuesday, July 9.

The Medicaid Fraud Control Division of the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation received information about a fraud in October 2023, regarding a consumer direct caregiver participating in a fraud scheme with another person. Later, investigators found that 27-year-old Quiana Pruitt billed and was paid for in-home caregiver services from June 2023 to December 2023 that were not actually given. Investigators also said 45-year-old Sekia Conner participated in the fraud.

After the Shelby County Grand Jury returned indictments in June 2024,  Pruitt and Conner were each charged with one count of TennCare Fraud and one count of theft of property $10,000-$60,000.

Law enforcement officials arrested Pruitt July 1, 2024, while Conner was detained by the Shelby County Sheriff’s Office on July 5. They each have a $25,000 bond.
