MEMPHIS, Tenn. — Memphis Police released photos of a suspect and two others after a shooting Tuesday afternoon in South Memphis left a teen dead and a man injured.
MPD said officers responded to a shooting just after 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, March 19, 2024, at the Parkway Food Market in the 700 block of S. Parkway E near Kerr Ave. They found two people injured and both were taken to Regional One Hospital, one in critical condition and the other non-critical.
MPD later said it was a teen who had been in critical, but later died at the hospital. The other person injured, an adult man, remains in non-critical.
MPD said the suspect knew the teen who was killed.
Thursday morning, police said in a Facebook post that the teen had walked into the store when the suspect began shooting at him. The teen then returned gunfire, striking the man who later went to the hospital in non-critical condition — previously, investigators told ABC24 the suspect had shot both victims.
A person wearing a black jacket and red jogging suit then picked up the weapon used by the teen, hiding it in a silver four-door Chevrolet Impala parked outside, MPD said.
The suspect who shot the teen — a man wearing a black hoodie, blue jeans and white flip flops — then drove away in a black SUV with a woman wearing a black jacket and yellow pants.
No arrests have been made, and the investigation is ongoing. Photos of the shooting suspect, the woman and the man who picked up the weapon used by the teen are below.
