Memphis Police said the two men assaulted and shot another man while he was waiting for an Uber outside of a downtown Memphis hotel Friday night.
MEMPHIS, Tenn. — A man was rushed to the hospital with serious injuries after being shot while he was waiting for an Uber ride outside of a downtown Memphis hotel Friday evening, and Memphis Police are looking for two 18-year-old men connected to the shooting.
MPD said they responded to a shooting around 6:40 p.m. at South Main near Gayaso, but could not find a victim. However, at 7:15 p.m., they found a man injured on the 700 block of Olympic. Police said he ran away after being shot.
Police said two suspects physically assaulted the man as he was standing outside waiting for an Uber. After assaulting the victim, MPD said one of the suspects pulled a gun and shot the man. The victim was taken to Regional One Hospital in critical condition.
Memphis Police said they're looking for two suspects in connection to the shooting, both 18-year-old men. One is a Black man with short twist style hair, thin build, wearing dark clothing and armed with a handgun. The other suspect is a Black man with short dreads, wearing a grey or brown shirt, black pants and white shoes.

MEMPHIS, TN – On October 20, 2023, at approximately 6:30 p.m., officers responded to a shooting in the area of Union Avenue and Second. Several subjects physically assaulted the victim while he was standing outside waiting for an Uber. After assaulting the victim, one of the assailants retrieved a firearm and shot the victim. The victim was transported to Regional One Hospital in critical condition.
Suspect #1 was a Black male with a dark complexion, short twist style hair, thin build,18 years of age, wearing dark clothing, and armed with a handgun.
Suspect #2 was a Black male, 18 years of age, with a medium complexion short dreads, wearing a grey or brown shirt, black pants, and white shoes.
No arrests have been made. This is an ongoing investigation. The video is attached.
