MEMPHIS, Tenn — Two people from West Tennessee are charged after Arkansas State Police (ASP) said they led troopers on a high-speed chase through West Memphis. ASP released dash cam video of the chase.
ASP investigators said just after 11:30 p.m. on Saturday, July 20, 2024, witnesses reported a black 2021 Ford Mustang driving through West Memphis recklessly and nearly causing crashes.
They said troopers caught up with the Mustang as the driver sped through the Broadway Blvd. and Martin Luther King Dr. intersection. ASP said the driver was going more than 100 miles an hour at the time.
Troopers said they followed the Mustang to the Interstate 55 South Service Rd., and then the driver turned to the North Service Rd. As the car neared the intersection of I-55 North Service Rd. and MLK Dr., troopers “performed a successful tactical vehicle intervention (TVI) to end the pursuit.”
ASP said at that point two suspects jumped from the Mustang and started to run into a grassy field. They were found and arrested by ASP and West Memphis Police.
ASP said driver Kylan Cunningham of Drummonds, Tennessee, is charged with possession of firearms by a certain person, fleeing, theft by receiving, criminal conspiracy, and more.
They said passenger Tre’Von Burnett of Covington, TN, is charged with felony theft by receiving, criminal conspiracy, and more.
Both were booked into the Crittenden County Detention Center.
