MEMPHIS, Tenn. — West Memphis Police said a suspect has been charged after robbing a bank then leading officers on a chase from Arkansas into Tennessee.
WMPD said about 11:15 a.m. on Friday, May 4, 2024, officers responded to an armed robbery at the Evolve Bank and Trust on Shoppingway Blvd.
Investigators said the suspect took off from the scene in a stolen black four-door Infiniti sedan, and they located the stolen vehicle eastbound on I-55 headed toward Memphis.
They said several law enforcement agencies, including Arkansas State Police (ASP) joined the pursuit, and the suspect eventually crashed in Memphis.
Arkansas State Police (ASP) said the driver, identified as Freddie Najil, took off and was caught by a trooper and West Memphis officers near West Carolina and Channel 3 Drive. ASP said a gun and money were recovered.
Najil is being held in the Shelby County Jail in Memphis.
