WEST MEMPHIS, Ark. — A man is dead after a shooting happened at the Southland Casino in West Memphis early Friday morning.
West Memphis Police said the shooting happened just before 4 a.m. on Nov. 8 in the casino's parking lot, where a man was found seriously hurt.
He was taken to the Baptist Crittenden hospital, where he later died.
A spokesperson for Southland Casino's corporate office — Delaware North Companies — released the following statement:
"Our security team immediately contacted West Memphis police after the isolated incident early this morning in the parking lot outside the casino. We are providing surveillance video and other information for their investigation. The safety and security of our guests and team members is our top priority, and we have a comprehensive security program in place, including a weapons detection system at every entrance that prevents weapons from entering the casino."
An investigation is underway.
