MEMPHIS, Tenn. — A woman charged after over 50 pounds of weed was found at the Memphis airport in April could get diversion.

Kierra Carter, 21, was charged with possession of controlled substance with intention to manufacture, deliver or sell. According to court records, on July 29, 2024, Carter received a one-year suspended sentence and was placed on probation. She can apply for diversion if she stays out of trouble.

According to an affidavit, Carter's luggage was found open inside a United Airline bag cart on April 14, 2024.  The bags had Carter's name tag on them.

Carter gave consent to a search of the luggage, and authorities found 56 pounds of marijuana, which tested positive. The woman was later charged.
