MEMPHIS, Tenn. — A woman is dead and two others, including a child, were hospitalized after a shooting and crash happened Sunday night in Orange Mound.
The Memphis Police Department said they responded to the incident Feb. 4 shortly before 8:30 p.m. on Park Ave., and Pendleton St., where someone had shot at a car with five people inside, causing the vehicle to leave the road and crash into a pole.
A 54-year-old woman was taken to Regional One Health in critical condition, where she was pronounced dead due to gunfire.
A 2-year-old boy also injured from the shooting was taken to Le Bonheur Children's Hospital in non-critical condition, and a 25-year-old woman hurt from the car crash was taken to Regional One Health in non-critical condition.
Investigators said an 8-year-old boy and 7-month-old girl who had been inside the car were uninjured.
Initially, the police department said a child had received injuries from the crash, but they later said the 25-year-old woman was injured. They also previously reported that a child was in critical condition before later saying a child was in non-critical condition.
Police said no charges have been filed at this time.
