MEMPHIS, Tennessee — A man is facing charges after a shooting in the Frayser neighborhood left a woman dead Tuesday night, according to the Memphis Police Department.

Willis Douglas, 24, has been charged with second-degree murder, two counts of aggravated assault, two counts of reckless endangerment with a deadly weapon and being a convicted felon in possession of a handgun. Bond was set at $500,000 during a hearing on Aug. 9, 2024.

Officers responded to a shooting call in the 1600 block of Alta Vista Drive. just after 7 p.m on Aug. 6, 2024. The female victim was taken to Regional One in critical condition and was later pronounced dead at the hospital.

Video footage showed a white vehicle with a black front bumper pulling away from the scene and 11 shots were heard, according to an affidavit. A witness told investigators he had an argument with the suspect, who then drove by and fired shots into his home, striking the victim. Another witness later identified the suspect as Douglas.

Records showed that Douglas was a convicted felon with a guilty plea in 2023 for reckless endangerment with a deadly weapon and received a one year sentence.
