MEMPHIS, Tenn. — The deadline for applications for the Shelby County Board of Commissioner's Summer Youth Program has been extended to Monday, April 1, 2024.
All applications must be submitted online HERE.
The summer youth program offers students as young as 14-years-old and young adults an eight week, paid internship opportunity. Interns can work up to 37.5 hours per week for $10 per hour. Students who live in Shelby County and are currently enrolled in public and private high schools and colleges are eligible.
The internship will run June 3 through July 31. Orientation will be held in May at the Shelby County Administration Building for those selected.
Students will gain work experience, allowing them to develop healthy work habits, useful job skills, on-the-job training, and insight into careers. Students will also be paired with a mentor and receive developmental workshop training. The interns will work in several departments and divisions of Shelby County Government.
“I am pleased to announce this sponsorship for our youth throughout Shelby County. This is a great chance to learn the skills needed to navigate career opportunities and workforce to become our future," said Chairwoman Miska Clay Bibbs, Shelby County Board of Commissioners.
