Memphis-Shelby County Schools' Chief of Business Operations to resign

MEMPHIS, Tenn. — As Memphis-Shelby County Schools prepares to welcome a new superintendent, the district is bidding farewell to its Chief of Business Operations.

MSCS announced Tuesday, Feb. 13, 2024, that Julius Muse is resigning at the end of March to focus on family after the passing of his mother.

Muse has been with MSCS since 2022, addressing grounds and maintenance as well as renovation and construction projects across the district.

MSCS said the departments executive team with handle critical areas when Muse leaves at the end of March.

"In light of my family's current circumstances, I must redirect my attention to their needs," said Muse in a statement. "I am immensely grateful for the opportunity to contribute to the growth and success of this remarkable school district."

"We wholeheartedly support his decision and appreciate his work to help improve our operational processes," said Interim Superintendent Toni Williams. "We have every confidence in his leadership team's ability to carry the operations work forward during this transition period."
