Memphis-Shelby County Schools delays School Choice applications due to 'unforeseen technical difficulties'

MSCS said the application process would be rescheduled for a later date, and said they would notify parents in advance.

MEMPHIS, Tenn. — Memphis-Shelby County Schools said that “unforeseen technical difficulties” have forced them to delay the School Choice applications, which were supposed to open Tuesday, Jan. 30, 2024.

In a post to social media, MSCS said its is “committed to ensuring  fair and equitable access to the General Choice and Optional Schools application processes.”

MSCS said the application process would be rescheduled for a later date, and said they would notify parents in advance. They did not say when that could happen. 

A School Choice Showcase is set for Saturday, Feb. 3, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Memphis Sports and Events Center at 995 Early Maxwell Blvd., at Liberty Park. Families can learn about the school options available with MSCS. There will also be food and entertainment, a student entrepreneur fair, performances, and giveaways.
